How to use the dice roller

Choose how many dice to roll — from one to six — and press Roll, or simply click anywhere in the dice area. The dice tumble, settle one by one, and the total appears below. Every roll uses your device's random number generator, so each face always has an equal one-in-six chance.

The odds, at a glance

One die is uniform — every number from 1 to 6 is equally likely. The moment you add a second die, the totals stop being equal: there are six ways to make 7 but only one way to make 2 or 12, which is why 7 dominates games like craps and Catan. The more dice you add, the more the totals bunch around the middle.

When you need a dice roller

  • Missing dice — the board game is out but the dice rolled under the sofa.
  • Travel games — play on a train or plane where real dice would wander off.
  • Classroom math — demonstrate probability with quick, visible rolls.
  • Quick decisions — assign options to numbers and let the die decide.

Frequently asked questions

Are the rolls fair?

Yes. Each die is an independent random draw with equal probability for all six faces — the result is fixed the moment you roll; the tumble is just for fun.

Can I roll other dice, like a D20?

This tool rolls standard six-sided dice. A D20 and full RPG dice set is on our list — if you'd use it, tell us via the contact page.

Is anything tracked?

No. Rolls happen entirely on your device and nothing is stored or transmitted.
