How the timesheet calculator works

Enter your start time, end time, and unpaid break for each day — daily and weekly totals update as you type, including overnight shifts (an end time earlier than the start rolls into the next day). Add your hourly rate to see gross pay, with overtime at whatever multiplier and threshold applies to you — 1.5× after 40 hours is the US default, but both are editable.

Timesheet facts worth knowing

  • Breaks are usually unpaid — meal breaks of 30+ minutes typically don't count as hours worked; short rest breaks often do. Check your contract.
  • Overtime rules vary. The US federal standard is 1.5× after 40 h/week for non-exempt employees; many countries use daily thresholds instead.
  • Rounding matters. Employers may round to the nearest quarter hour, but it must average out fairly over time.
  • This calculates gross pay — taxes and deductions come out of this number, not on top of it.

Finding overlap across time zones

Add each teammate's city and the planner draws everyone's working day on one shared timeline — deep blue columns are the hours when every city is inside 9-to-5. Offsets are computed live from each city's real time zone, so daylight saving is always accounted for automatically. London–New York teams get a comfortable 4-hour window; London–Sydney gets none, which is its own useful answer: schedule asynchronously, and rotate who takes the awkward call.

Frequently asked questions

Does the overlap planner handle daylight saving?

Yes — it reads each city's current offset from your browser's time zone database, so DST shifts are reflected the day they happen.

Can I use the timesheet for invoicing clients?

Absolutely — set your rate, leave overtime off, and the weekly total is your invoice line. Freelancers often keep this page open all week.

Is my data saved?

No — everything is calculated on your device and cleared when you leave. Nothing is stored or transmitted.
